The popular Duke of Edinburgh program offers numerous benefits to young people, helping to build their confidence and develop key life skills in order to reach their full potential. The Chiltern Way Academy Trust Schools cater for students with additional needs, including ADHD, autism, and high anxiety, and have found that the DofE program is one of their most popular activities. It helps their students to overcome their own challenges whilst discovering new skills and talents and making enduring connections. A spokesperson for The Trust said ‘It teaches our young people so much about how to make friends properly. I notice they stop trying to push people away, they become more independent but also learn how to work as a team, and they make friendships and memories that are difficult to replicate in the classroom.'
The Shanly Foundation was delighted to offer funding to enable The Trust to offer the program to more students.
