The Douglas Bader Foundation

The Shanly Foundation has granted a donation of £3,000 to The Douglas Bader Foundation to help fund 10 children to take part in the Foundation’s Young Aviator Flying Day.

The Douglas Bader Foundation helps advance and promote the physical, mental and spiritual welfare of people who are affected by limb loss or are otherwise physically disabled.

The Foundation was formed by family and friends of WWII pilot Douglas Bader who lost both his legs in a plane crash. Douglas Bader became an inspiration to disabled and able-bodied people by demonstrating the ability to ‘get on with your life’.
