Supporting local charities and community causes

Inspiring Employment

The award-winning Spear programme bridges the gap between unemployed 16-24 year olds from disadvantaged backgrounds and businesses seeking motivated new recruits.

Spear is a year-long project that coaches and supports young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to overcome the attitudes and behaviours that are holding them back and also provides training on CV writing and interview techniques.

Each young person continues to receive support from the programme for 12 months afterwards to help them enter employment and progress their career. Over 75% of those who complete Spear return to education or get into work and are still there a year later. The Shanly Foundation are delighted to be able to support this project that transforms the lives of disadvantaged young people.
